Enjoying Resin

I am really enjoying the resin art. It's fascinating how I can trap these objects. Below is a snowflake soap dish, I know the snowflakes are hard to see.
This one is flower petals and the butterflies cut from my old book of the play Hamlet. I wonder if anyone would be able to tell from the words.... So much fun!

The resin is going up soon

I have been spending as much free time as possible in my art room. The past few weeks have been so overwhelming that I'm glad I have this outlet. One of the things I have been working on that is unrelated to art is finding a home for a dog I am fostering named Slinky. (Below) is a picture of him thinking he's the artist sitting in my art chair. He is so fascinated with the art room its adorable.

I've been perfecting my resin technique. These are the first totally done project and I'm excited to be putting them up on etsy soon. They are two coasters with a "D" inside. Perfect for xmas soon. I also added little rubber stoppers to the bottom just to make them that much cooler.
The inside is a cardboard D, snowflake buttons, and glitter snow. Fun. Fun. Fun.

More Resin

So I've been playing more resin. Below is a christmas coaster with the letter Z on it
Below here is a flower petal business card holder, a halloween soap dish and a halloween coaster.
Then here is a winter and halloween coaster.
NOW these are my favorites. These are coasters with flower petals and then little butterflies cut out of paper from a famous play. I'm really excited for these to harden because I have an idea for a game. More to come later if I decide to do it.

Coasters

So, I've been playing around with resin. Resin is liquid plastic (basically). It's really cool because you can trap almost anything you want in it. Sooooooo I got a few molds and have been trying it out.

This first one is a christmas theme coaster. I bought some of the snowflakes people use for scrap booking and captured them in the plastic. I'm working on some more christmas ones right now. Maybe make a set?
Then this one is made with pressed flowers. The flowers are very picky. If they are not completely dry they loose their color when their in the resin. This look is going to need a little more practice. Hopefully soon I'll have these up on my etsy site.
