Enjoying Resin

I am really enjoying the resin art. It's fascinating how I can trap these objects. Below is a snowflake soap dish, I know the snowflakes are hard to see.
This one is flower petals and the butterflies cut from my old book of the play Hamlet. I wonder if anyone would be able to tell from the words.... So much fun!

The resin is going up soon

I have been spending as much free time as possible in my art room. The past few weeks have been so overwhelming that I'm glad I have this outlet. One of the things I have been working on that is unrelated to art is finding a home for a dog I am fostering named Slinky. (Below) is a picture of him thinking he's the artist sitting in my art chair. He is so fascinated with the art room its adorable.

I've been perfecting my resin technique. These are the first totally done project and I'm excited to be putting them up on etsy soon. They are two coasters with a "D" inside. Perfect for xmas soon. I also added little rubber stoppers to the bottom just to make them that much cooler.
The inside is a cardboard D, snowflake buttons, and glitter snow. Fun. Fun. Fun.

More Resin

So I've been playing more resin. Below is a christmas coaster with the letter Z on it
Below here is a flower petal business card holder, a halloween soap dish and a halloween coaster.
Then here is a winter and halloween coaster.
NOW these are my favorites. These are coasters with flower petals and then little butterflies cut out of paper from a famous play. I'm really excited for these to harden because I have an idea for a game. More to come later if I decide to do it.

Coasters

So, I've been playing around with resin. Resin is liquid plastic (basically). It's really cool because you can trap almost anything you want in it. Sooooooo I got a few molds and have been trying it out.

This first one is a christmas theme coaster. I bought some of the snowflakes people use for scrap booking and captured them in the plastic. I'm working on some more christmas ones right now. Maybe make a set?
Then this one is made with pressed flowers. The flowers are very picky. If they are not completely dry they loose their color when their in the resin. This look is going to need a little more practice. Hopefully soon I'll have these up on my etsy site.

Purse Style

This past week, when I was doing my day job of babysitting, we had a little craft time. We decided to play with duct tape. It's fascinating what can be done with duct tape. If used right it can work in the place of a fabric.

So, after some research on the internet I found a super cool pattern for a purse made of duct tape. Check out the results. We even added a strawberry charm.

For the sake of credit where credit is due, this is the website I found the pattern.

Post-Memorial Days...

I had the afternoon off from babysitting, so I was able to update my etsy account. Below is a butterfly dish that is now up for sale!
I also got my hands dirty with clay. I wanted to see if I could replicated the look of basket weaving. I've done basket weaving before but thought it would be fun to do it with clay. This was my trial piece (below). I plan to start a big one because this was fun. I just need to clean up the style a little.

Long time no info

I know I haven't posted anything in a while, just wanted to to reassure people that I am alive.

I have started doing needle point and my nails have been growing out, which is funny 'cuz I'm a nail bitting addict.

More up soon

A Nice Sunday

Here is some of how I spent my Sunday. Below is my Mr. & Mrs. Frog.
I also worked on a wine glass with a doggy on it and little dog paw prints. I thought the dog was very interesting looking.

I made a white cat wine glass although I didn't get a good picture of it. The white doesn't show up much.

New art for sale

I updated my etsy site today. www.etsy.com/shop/leavingtheclouds
Here are just some of the things I have up there now.
I like the look of these twigs.

These white glasses are my absolute favorite. They are so delicate looking and with red wine behind them I'm sure they will look magical. They remind me of a winter wonderland.

Here is a couple of my babies cooking!

Play Time

Yesterday I had two of the kids I babysit for come over and enjoy a little time in the art room. They each made a pinch pot and a mess! But that's what is so fun about art. It gets messy.
It's always fun to have visitors in the art room.

A Relaxing Day Off

Today I had the day off and spent most of it in my art room!!

Above is a champagne glass I'm working. It reminds me of valentines day.

The red swirly glass is one I'm working on for me personally. It says "Mere" at the bottom. I figure if I'm making these for other people I should make one for me.
As you can see above i decided to start working on some champagne glasses. I painted some stems on them but I haven't decided what I want growing on them.
I also painted an underwater scene with a few red fish.

If you notice in the way background there is a very tall Champagne glass. That one has been etched in. Andrew got to play in my art room for a little bit yesterday so that would be his handy work back there. It says "Happiness is a warm gun" around the bottom (ref: beatles song) and "But its a talking dog" around the top (ref: Up the movie)

Starting Out

I decided to start a blog to show how things are coming along with my art. Since this is my first post there's not much to say. More to come!
